The importance of the Blues Brothers film.
“The Blues Brothers” is undoubtedly one of the best comedies ever made, but it may be the most important music film ever made. By 1980, no one cared about Aretha Franklin, James Brown and Ray Charles. The film’s massive popularity not only revived the careers of all those now legendary artists, but turned on an entire generation of suburban white kids to rhythm and blues music. I should know, I was one of them.
